After a walk down Knez Mihajlova St. from the City Library to Republic Sq., he addressed citizens gathered for a campaign emphasizing picture warnings on packs of cigarettes, and under the slogan, "Stop to tobacco smoke".

This was supported by the City Transport Secretariat, which had zebra crossings in this area of the Serbian capital painted with the words, "Step on your last cigarette".

More than five million people die each year worldwide as a consequence of smoking – the figure is higher than the HIV, malaria and tuberculosis death toll combined.

In Serbia, the number is at 16,000 people each year.

Cigarettes remain the only legal product that kills its consumers.
