BELGRADE Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic on Friday sent Easter greetings to Roman Catholic Archbishop of Belgrade Stanislav Hocevar. His message was also addressed to the clergy, and all those celebrating Easter on Sunday. Officials wish happy Easter to Catholics, Protestants "On behalf of the Serbian government and my own behalf I wish you a happy Easter, with the wish that you celebrate the biggest Christian holiday in joy, well-being and good cheer among your loved ones," Dacic said in his message. May this holiday be a signpost and a source of hope that all churches and religious communities in Serbia will continue to develop and strengthen mutual understanding and respect, the prime minister said. In his message, Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic wished the believers to celebrate the greatest Christian holiday in joy, with their families and friends, and for "all days of Easter holidays to be adorned with peace and universal prosperity." Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC)Patriarch Irinej also wished a happy Easter to Archbishop Hocevar in a message sent on Thursday. Serbia's Catholic and Protestant minority are today marking Good Friday and will celebrate the holiday of the resurrection of Christ on March 31, while the majority Orthodox believers adhere to the Julian calendar, and will do so on May 5.
