The Hungarian prime minister on Wednesday also called on the EU to give Bulgaria more money to help the country improve the defense of its borders.

"Bulgaria's successful defense is in the common interest of all of us," Orban said, according to AP, while touring a barbed wire fence in Bulgaria's village of Lesovo with this Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borisov.

The border area village is "part of a route used by migrants trying to enter the EU," said the agency.

Orban added that "Europe cares little about Bulgaria" and called on the EU to help this country, Hungary's MTI agency reported.

"If we can give three billion euros to Turkey, which is not an EU member, it's impossible that we can't give 160 million to Bulgaria," the Hungarian prime minister remarked.

Borisov, who has asked for 160 million euros in emergency assistance to improve border security, said that no long term solution will be possible without the joint efforts of all EU member-states.
