The soldier's main task is to help in the building of a fence along the border with Serbia, it has been announced.

In a statement to Channel TV2, he confirmed the media reports that around 10 km of the fence was being built every day, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.

As part of the Decisive Action 2015 exercises, which were launched on Wednesday, the Hungarian military is tasked to guard the border together with police, as the border needs to be protected by human forces, just a fence is not enough, Simicsko said.

Hungary has planned to finish the construction of the 4-meter high and 175-km long fence along the border with Serbia by October 31, so as to stem the inflow of refugees and migrants from the Middle East and Africa.

However, the Hungarian prime minister's office stated on Thursday that the fence could be completed in early October.

On Friday, the Hungarian police said they arrested 3,226 migrants who crossed the country's border illegally during the previous day. Most of those detained near the town of Roszke are Syrians, Afghanis, and Pakistanis, MTI reported.
