On the orders of Montenegro's Special Organized Crime Prosecution, adviser to the prime minister Aleksandar Ticic and former municipal leaders Rajko Kuljaca and Dragan Marovic have also been detained.

Dragan Marovic is the brother and Milena Marovic-Bogdanovic the daughter of Svetozar Marovic - who in the past served as president of Serbia and Montenegro, and is currently head of the political council of Montenegro's ruling DPS party.

Quoting unofficial sources, the Vijesti website said that the group arrested on Thursday is suspected of incurring damages to the municipal budget worth several million euros, during the construction of the shopping mall Plaza and the plateau at the Jaz beach in this seaside resort.

A separate case is ongoing in Podgorica where Mayor Radjenovic is accused of abusing his official position to damage the budget during the sale of municipal land.

Former Mayor Rajko Kuljaca and Deputy Mayor Dragan Marovic were previously sent to jail for their role in a corruption case known as Zavala, that involved damage to the municipal budget and public finances.

Several months ago the wife of Svetozar Marovic, Djurdjina Marovic, was mentioned in connection to an affair involving secret bank accounts in HSBC's Swiss branch, something discovered by a group of international journalists.

According to media reports, in 2006 and 2007 Djurdjina Marovic had USD 3.8 million on her HSBC bank account.
