Ponta noted that the identification of the victims was going slowly, because their personal documents were left inside the bus that skidded off the wet road and into a ravine in the Morača River canyon on Sunday afternoon.

Four of the 29 injured passengers remain in a critical condition. The cause of the crash is not yet officially known.

No other vehicle was involved and some media reports quoted eyewitnesses on Monday, who suggested that the bus was speeding when the accident happened.

The injured passengers were visited yesterday by a secretary with the Romanian Health Ministry, who thanked Montenegro for its efforts to avoid "even more serious" consequences of the accident.

Romanian FM Titus Corlatean is also in Podgorica. He visited the injured tourists and organized their transport back to their country.

Some of the patients will be flown to Bucharest during the day on Tuesday, it was announced in Podgorica.
