BANJA LUKA Republic of Srpska (RS) assembly Speaker Igor Radojicic has confirmed that he has received a resignation letter of RS PM Aleksandar Dzombic and his ministers. “I have received the RS government’s resignation letter. Based on the letter I have scheduled a special session of the assembly because the assembly needs to note the government’s resignation,” he explained. Media have been speculating that a new RS prime minister should be Zeljka Cvijanovic who was an economic relations and regional cooperation minister until today. She is also one of Dodik’s closest associates. Dodik confirmed on Tuesday that interior, health, education and “some other” ministers would be replaced in the new government. He also confirmed that coalition partners of the ruling Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), Democratic People’s Party (DNS) and Socialist Party (SP) would not change their ministers in the new government. Leaders of the ruling coalition in the RS agreed to resign in order to secure faster forming of a new government. “A PM-designate for the forming of the new RS government will be appointed tomorrow, after the government resigns,” SNSD leader Milorad Dodik told reporters on Tuesday evening. Dodik on Tuesday met with DNS leader Marko Pavicevic and SP leader Petar Djokic. Dodik stressed that the coalition partners, SNSD, SP and DNS, remained key factors of the new government. He said that the new PM-designate would on March 2 request that a parliamentary session be held and that parliament would then set a date for the session at which the new government would be elected. Dodik said that a session of the SNSD Executive Board would be held on Saturday to discuss candidates for new ministers, Banja Luka media have reported.
