French FM: Croatia to join EU soon

French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said that Croatia will soon become the 28th member-state of the European Union. Croatian President Stjepan Mesic honored Kouchner in Dubrovnik in commemoration of 18 years since the Libertas convoy, which broke the blockade of the sea in Dubrovnik in 1991. French FM: Croatia to join EU soon Kouchner said that the convoy was a sign of freedom. He thanked Croatian officials for the honor and said that the country would soon join the EU. Kouchner was the French humanitarian affairs minister in 1991, and spent ten days in Duborvnik during the blockade. Mesic said that Kouchner did a lot for Croatia in its most difficult moments, when Croatia wanted the world to know what was happening in Dubrovnik and the rest of the country. The Libertas convoy was led by Mesic and then Croatian prime minister Franjo Greguric. The convoy included 70 ships.
