RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik says that the constant calls for a new Constitution are leading to instability in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Dodik has proposed the introduction of a moratorium on political themes during the economic crisis. Dodik: Too many political themes He said that it was clear that any talk of Constitutional change, coming in particular from the Bosnian Federation, was distancing the country from what the rest of the world was focusing on—namely, the economic crisis. “While the world looks for ways of overcoming the economic crisis, whose effects are being felt throughout the region, Bosnia-Herzegovina is discussing Constitutional change,” the Republic of Srpska (RS) prime minister said in Brod. He warned that if Constitutional change did indeed come about, the RS would have its own proposals that would surprise a lot of people. “We’ll ask for the Bosnian Court and Prosecution to be abolished,” said Dodik, adding that these were not legal, but political institutions. “That will be our condition for talks on Constitutional change,” said the minister, reiterating that he advocated the country’s confederate structure. Regarding the RS, he said that he would not allow any erosion of its powers in the future. Milorad Dodik (FoNet, archive)
