183 icons seized at Macedonia-Greece border

Macedonian customs officers confiscated 183 icons today on a border crossing with Greece.

The icons originate from Greece, and were meant for the Serbian market, reports say, quoting officials in Skopje.

The religious items were found in a Serbian national's truck.

Macedonian police will now file criminal charges against the driver, who has not been identified. He will also pay a fine of EUR 4,500.
