Supermodel condemns gypsy discrimination

While visiting Ljubljana Monday, Campbell said gypsies are people with the rights and duties as all other citizens, and nobody must discriminate them in any way."

Slovenia's police director-general Monday fired Branko Slak, Ljubljana's police chief, for oversights in handling anti-gypsy protests during which a number of protesters were injured.

Earlier this month, Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa said the government plans to build a new settlement for the relocated gypsy family of 31 members, including 14 children.

Villagers have blocked approaches leading to Ambrus, southeast of Ljubljana, from where the gypsy family was moved to a former military barracks after residents threatened to kill them late in October.
