Currently, seven member states of the European Union are ready to contribute and join EULEX patrols in the north of the Republic of Kosovo, head of EULEX Mission, Lars Gunnar Wigemark, said.

"On Saturday, we had a meeting with the commander of KFOR, Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, and the acting director of the police," Lars Gunnar Wigemark told Klan Kosova.

He also stated that he received a written request from the Kosovo police to continue their presence on the ground and monitor the situation, especially in the north.

As he stated, 23 carabinieri from Italy arrived on Tuesday, and members of the gendarmerie from at least two other countries as part of the European Police are expected.

"Last week we already added troops to the field, and yesterday we reinforced the unit," Wigemark said, stating that the situation on the field is currently calm.
