Bulgarian president says his country backs Serbia's EU bid

According to Radev, "the European future guarantees security and stability of the region."

He said that the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina "has no alternative" - and that a solution "must be found , without which there is no European future."

Radev added that the Serbia's arguments "must be analyzed and carefully evaluated" because otherwise "there can be no sustainable solution."

The Bulgarian president said that 2025 as the date of Serbia's EU accession is "an ambitious, but achievable goal" - and added that it requires "reforms in key areas."

As for bilateral relations, Serbia-Bulgaria trade and tourism exchange and infrastructure projects like the Belgrade-Nis highway and a gas interconnection are "progressing," Radev said - adding that infrastructure connectivity was important "for European integration of the region."

Radev said that relations between the two countries are at a level where "positive processes dominate and there is determination to work together."

He said he would meet with the Bulgarian national minority in Serbia on Friday, and that "concrete issues" would be considered.

"We expect that our national minority will receive stronger support from the Serbian state," said Radev.

Aleksandar Vucic told reporters than he and his Bulgarian counterpart today "agreed it was time to overcome the past completely and turn the page of the future."

Vucic said it was "time for our countries to devote themselves to friendship and the future."
