At the international conference "Messages from the Western Balkans" organized by the European Movement in Serbia, Dittmann said that resolving relations with neighbors, in addition to reforms, modernization and the rule of law, is one of the demands of the European Union towards Serbia.

"Relations with neighbors are very important for the European Union, we do not want conflict and therefore we are in favor of normalizing relations between Belgrade and Pristina. This dialogue is most important for people living in Kosovo, therefore the European Union supports both sides in the dialogue," he told reporters.

When asked about the possibility of replacing EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini as Kosovo dialogue mediator, Dittmann said this was " not true."

"It is not true that Germany wants to replace the special negotiator, the dialogue is organized by the European Union and Federica Mogherini. She is the key person representing the European Union," Dittmann replied.
