Permanent Under Secretary of the British Foreign Office Simon McDonald will visit Serbia on September 11 and 12.

British Foreign Office official, parliamentarians to visit

These visits will "contribute to improving relations between the two countries," Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and British Ambassador Denis Keefe have said during their meeting in Belgrade.

Brnabic "thanked the ambassador for his country's support to projects implemented by the government, regarding modernization and increase of efficiency of state administration and creation of an environment for provision of electronic services to citizens and economy by public officials."

The British government is already providing support to Serbia for these through the Good Governance Fund, the government's press office said in a statement.

According to the press release, Keefe "expressed satisfaction that Great Britain will host the Western Balkans Summit in London in 2018."

Brnabic also "thanked Keefe for Great Britain's support in the areas of the rule of law and stability of the Western Balkans region, and stressed that together with fiscal consolidation these are the important issues for Serbia."

The meeting also touched on "the effects of Brexit, and bilateral cooperation between the two countries during and after Britain exit from the European Union."

Brnabic said that the government of Serbia, and she personally, find "further implementation of reforms, improvement of the education system in Serbia, as well as establishment of e-government in its full capacity, along with the strengthening of the IT sector" to be "very important."

The Serbian prime minister and the British ambassador "stressed the significance of the 180th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which is marked in both with a series of events this year."
