Vucic "repeated 1,000 times" EU is Serbia's goal

Aleksandar Vucic says he "repeated 1,000 times" during the campaign that "the European Union is the strategic goal of Serbia - and citizens voted for that."

Vucic "repeated 1,000 times" EU is Serbia's goal

Vucic also said he "did not lie to people" during the campaign.

"I told them - yes, we want to maintain the best possible relations with Russia, China and the United States, but our strategic objective is the European Union. I repeated it 1,000 times. No lies, no misunderstanding. And people voted for that," the SNS party leader said, adding:

"We need to keep the path to the EU. If we miss it, Serbia will go in the wrong direction. That's it."

When asked "whether the day will come when Serbia will wish to become a member of NATO," Vucic said this was "not a simple question in Serbia."

"Serbia has good relations with NATO. And it will have good relations with NATO. That's my policy. I do not want to have any conflict with NATO. The people of Serbia will decide about everything else," he said.

It was previously reported that during the interview Vucic reiterated that Serbia will not hold a referendum on the EU.
