Minister visits Milosevic's grave, says he "loved Serbia"

However, he added, "it is more than enough time for the lies spoken about him, based on which he was overthrown, to be dispelled forever."

"The truth about Milosevic has been in this people long enough and deep enough, and it cannot be changed," Vulin said, adding that Milosevic "loved Serbia and his family above all, and was cruelly persecuted and cruelly punished for that."

Vulin also said it was impossible to speak about the Serb Republic (RS) or the justified fight of the Serbian people without speaking about Milosevic's positive role.

"One can't speak about the successful Dayton Agreement and that for the first time in their history Serbs west of the Drina River received institutional protection, so that (Ustasha death camp) Jasenovac cannot happen to them again, without speaking about the role of Slobodan Milosevic and without saying at least one 'thank you'," Vulin said.

According to him, Milosevic was in the habit of "making mistakes in his choice of friends" - whereas his enemies "chose him unmistakably."

"Milosevic came under attack because of Serbia, it wasn't Serbia that was attacked because of Milosevic," Vulin said, adding he believed Milosevic's family should return to Serbia and be given "at least the elementary presumption of innocence, like any other human being."
