On this occasion, President Nikolic pointed out that Serbia is committed to fostering close and friendly relations with Ukraine in all areas of mutual interest.

“The Republic of Serbia respects the territorial integrity of Ukraine and greatly appreciates your country's principled position not to recognize the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo,” said Nikolic.

The Serbian OSCE chairmanship is directing all efforts towards restoring peace and stability in Ukraine, stressed Nikolic.

The Ukrainian ambassador said that Ukraine and Serbia are both facing a similar challenge - blatant violation of basic principles of international law.

"Not only the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine are at risk, but also the peace and security in Europe as a whole. Under such circumstances, the friendship, unity and solidarity between Ukrainians and Serbians is an integral part of the unity and solidarity of all European nations," said Aleksandrovich.
