Nikolic and Wilhelm "particularly addressed regional relations and the issue of migrants from Syria and Iraq," Tanjug reported.

The Serbian president described Hungary's decision to erect a barrier along the border with Serbia as "completely incomprehensible and very unpleasant."

The issue of migrants, who enter Serbia through EU territory, will not be solved in that manner because they first need to cross into Greece, Bulgaria or Romania, he said.

"We can only solve the problem of migrants together and through cooperation," Nikolic noted.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel's upcoming visit to Serbia is recognition for the results the country has achieved over the past three years, Wilhelm said.

Serbia's relations with Germany are better than ever and are developing in a good direction, the ambassador noted.

Wilhelm "expressed satisfaction with the fact that the progress in bilateral relations was achieved during his ambassadorial term and also said that he hopes that they will continue to improve in the future," the presidential press office said in a statement.
