Hague's decision "attempt to bring down government"

"This decision above all aims to destabilize Serbia, bring down the government of Aleksandar Vucic, and directly to bring down the president of the Serbian government," he said.

Like Vucic, Vulin also observed that the decision came "immediately after the marking of the anniversary of the start of (NATO) bombing." According to Vulin, it was the first time that a Serbian prime minister said the 1999 air strikes represented an act of aggression, "and not some campaign."

"Things are looking up for Serbia, Serbia has more money, it solved its Zelezara, it started to employ more people and should under no circumstances talk about that, but rather about whether there will be clashes in the streets, whether Seselj will surrender, whether the government will be treasonous, while others will be patriots," said Vulin, and added that "this was the reason behind the (Hague) decision."

The minister added that when Seselj was granted temporary release last November he "publicly asked the tribunal not to ask the leader of the Radicals to be returned to detention," and that he said the decision to set him free was also "directed against the Serbian government."

According to Vulin, "this is yet another attempt to make Serbia an unstable country where people clash in the streets."

When reporters asked "what Serbia is doing about the demand," Vulin said "this will be seen" and that he would "personally bring up the issue" during Monday's cabinet meeting. Vulin added it was "clear" which countries stood behind the demand that came from the Appeals Chamber.

"It's those (western) countries that did not wish to attend the marking of the anniversary of the bombing and who have their representatives and judges in the Appeals Chamber," Vulin concluded.
