Vučić thanked for "support in battle against ISIL"

U.S. President Barack Obama has thanked Aleksandar Vučić "for Serbia's support to the international coalition against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant."


This is what U.S.State Secretary John Kerry informed Vučić on Thursday, said a statement.

Kerry's letter to the Serbian prime minister particularly stresses gratitude to Serbia's commitment to international peace and determination to oppose ISIL, the Serbian government office for media relations has stated.

Kerry also conveyed "Obama's praise for Vučić's leadership role in the talks between Belgrade and Priština and opinion that full implementation of the Brussels Agreement from April 2013 would significantly help speed up Serbia's EU integration and bring more stability to the region."

The U.S. "is prepared to work closely with Serbia concerning its chairmanship of the OSCE in 2015," the letter says, adding that "OSCE's strong leadership in advising is presently particularly important, since Europe is facing one of the biggest security challenges in several decades."


Macedonian president visits Serbia

Serbian and Macedonian presidents Tomislav Nikolić and Gjorge Ivanov said their countries "should upgrade and intensify ties in all ares of joint interest."
