"Friday round aims to achieve progress in judiciary"

The Friday meeting between Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dačić and his Kosovo counterpart Hashim Thaci with EU mediation in Brussels will focus on the judiciary.

It aims to achieve the biggest possible progress ahead of the report of High EU Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton to the EU Council, Ashton's spokesperson Maja Kocijančič released on Thursday.

The talks will cover all open issues concerning the implementation of the Brussels agreement, and one of them refers to the judiciary, Kocijančič told reporters ahead of the Friday round of the dialogue in Brussels on normalization of Belgrade-Priština relations, which will be the 20th round of talks so far.

Kocijančič recalled that Ashton will present a brief report to the EU Foreign Affairs Council on the progress made so far in the normalization of Belgrade-Priština relations, while her detailed report would be discussed by the EU General Affairs Council on Tuesday.

The aim of the Friday meeting is to achieve the biggest possible progress so that the report would be positive, the spokesperson said.

After this, ministers will adopt the framework for the talks with Serbia and set the date of the first inter-governmental conference between Serbia and the EU which, according to the decision the Council adopted earlier, should be held in January 2014 at the latest.
