KFOR commander meets with Serbian Army chief The two generals met at the Italian military base Vilaggio Italia, located near the city of Pec in north-western Kosovo, where they discussed the current situation in Kosovo and Metohija, details of recent events in the north of the southern Serbian province, as well as the measures KFOR has taken in that regard. According to a statement posted on the VS website, Buhler said he believed that his mediation had helped reach an agreement and welcomed the calming effect of the fair and measured statements by Serbian military leadership over the recent weeks. Miletic and Buhler said the cooperation between the Serbian Army and KFOR was good and professional, based on mutual respect, even in tense moments. They agreed that, except for the incidents during the first week of the crisis, which began during the night of July 25, overall situation along the administrative line was relatively calm and stable. Some criminal activities like smuggling, illegal migration and illegal cutting of forests will be suppressed through professional cooperation between the security forces on both sides of the administrative line and simultaneous patrols along that line. Miletic and Buhler said that the cooperation would be adapted to the new situation and would soon be discussed at the level of the Joint Implementation Commission. The statement says that this was to be Buhler's last meeting with Serbian military representatives at the level of the Joint Implementation Commission, as he will hand over the command of KFOR on September 9.
