The Serbian government met in Belgrade this Thursday and adopted a decision to abolish compulsory military service in the country starting Jan. 1, 2011. Only those who wish to receive basic military training will be called up from that day on. Govt. moves to abolish compulsory military service The rule applies to those who have chosen the so-called civilian service instead of training under arms. The government's decision will now be forwarded to the Serbian parliament for adoption.
