The Interior Ministry (MUP) will be investigating information regarding potential threats to the safety of opposition SNS leader Tomislav Nikolic. Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said today in Belgrade that Nikolic has been given 24-hour security since the information related to threats against him was obtained. MUP to investigate threats against SNS leader Dacic said that the MUP did not give the media the information on a potential assassination plan against Nikolic, stating that he received the information from another state institution, but did not elaborate any further. “I support the leaders of all political parties having their own security, regardless of whether they are in the government or opposition, in accordance with the evaluation of their security risks,” Dacic said when answering the question of an SRS MP of whether the information regarding Nikolic was true. Media reported on Tuesday that it was the opposition SRS leader, Vojislav Seselj, who ordered the murder from his cell in the Hague Tribunal. Dacic, who addressed parliament's Committee for Security and Defense, also noted that police security had been given to Liberal Democratic party leader Cedomir Jovanovic and Serbian Renewal Movement leader Vuk Draskovic, adding that opposition Democratic Party of Serbia leader Vojislav Kostunica’s apartment is protected as well. He said that MUP were checking all possible leads with the help of other state institutions. Meanwhile, SRS officials repeated that the party would be pressing charges against Belgrade's Blic daily that originally published the allegations against their leader. On Wednesday, tabloid Press wrote that it was Seselj’s wife Jadranka who responsible for relaying the message for the planned assassination. She rejected this, and called the allegation a “monstrous fabrication”. Daily Blic writes that there was still an ongoing investigation on who took the message from Seselj to the supposed planner of the assassination - gangster Luka Bojovic - adding that police were trying to locate Bojovic currently.
