NBS law enters parliament procedure
The amendments to the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) law have entered the parliament procedure, Speaker Slavica Đukić-Dejanović has said.

The amendments to the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) law have entered the parliament procedure, Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic has said. The changes, if adopted by MPs would allow parliament to appoint the central bank governor, while the candidate would be named by the president. NBS law enters parliament procedure Djukic-Dejanovic said she expected the amendments to be on the agenda very soon, after all the requirements for an extraordinary session have been met. The entire document has been reviewed by competent people from the International Monetary Fund and the Serbian government, said she, and added that it should improve the quality of that important legal act. According to Djukic-Dejanovic, the new NBS governor could be appointed at the same session, depending on the timing of the president's proposal. The speaker stated that she can call an extraordinary session only if it is requested urgently by the government or by 84 members of parliament.
