Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic stated on Wednesday that the key government goals were realized in 2009. Serbia is ending the year with the lowest budget deficit in the region and a lesser drop in GDP that other countries in Europe, he said. Another success of the Serbian government was a responsible social policy aimed at protecting the standard of the citizens, he added. The drop in the GDP was less that in other countries in the region and will amount to about three percent, and the rise in unemployment rate was also lower, while the budget deficit is among the lowest, he said. The effects of global recession were alleviated by reducing public spending, investing in infrastructure and incentives to domestic economy and citizens to the amount of RSD two million from the budget, according to the premier.
