SPS, which is one of the ruling parties in Serbia at this time, said in a statement on Tuesday that a meeting in Budva, Montenegro, saw the organization accept its Ethics Committee's opinion that a process of accession of the SPS should begin.

"This is yet another acknowledgement of the SPS as a modern left-wing party on the Serbian political scene with international legitimacy, and this is one step forward to the party's full membership in the world family of socialist and social-democratic parties," a statement said from the party, founded and led until his death by former Serbian President Slobodan Milošević.
