Although Slovakia has accepted the new Kosovo passports, they are still not an official document as far as this country's concerned, report say. "Our goal is to enable the residents of Kosovo to travel. We are doing this for humanitarian reasons. People from Kosovo can identify themselves with a passport as a document about their identity, however, the visa for a trip to Slovakia will not be in the passport, but on a separate form," Slovak Foreign Ministry spokesman Jan Skoda told SME daily. Slovakia: Technical recognition of passports The residents of Kosovo will thus no longer need UNMIK-issued passports to travel to Slovakia. "We are considering to in the future recognize the passports issued by the Kosovo authorities and stamp visas directly into them. But that does not mean that we will recognize Kosovo as a state," he continued. Kosovo Albanians who must travel to Slovakia were facing a difficult situation since UNMIK has stopped issuing travel documents, while the only ones available in Kosovo, those issued by the Albanian authorities in Pristina, were not accepted by Bratislava.
