Kosovo Minister Goran Bogdanovic met with UNMIK Chief Lamberto Zannier in Pristina today. Bogdanovic, DS, said that he has seen understanding for the problems of the Serb community in the province. Kosovo minister: UNMIK shows understanding “We agreed to continue our dialogue, and to have UNMIK judicial officials, as soon as next week, talk to court officials in northern Kosovo,” Bogdanovic said after the meeting at the UNMIK headquarters in Pristina. Bogdanovic added that UNMIK police officials will meet with Serb officers from northern Kosovo, Central Kosovo and Kosovsko Pomoravlje next week. “The goal is to find the best way to solve the problems in the interest of all citizens, firstly, Serbs and other non-Albanians in Kosovo,” according to him. Bogdanovic talked for an hour and a half with Zannier about problems faced by the police and court system in the province. Today’s meeting is a continuation of dialogue between Belgrade and UNMIK regarding technical questions that were brought up when Zannier visited Belgrade last week. Another official that met with the Italian diplomat at the helm of the UN mission, Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, said that today’s visit by Bogdanovic was “another spectacle on Belgrade’s part”. Agencies reported him as "ironically" saying that the minister was in Kosovo on the day that the first Kosovo passports are being issued. Thaci also said that Zannier "can only discuss technical questions with Belgrade". “There can be no talk about anything related to the independence and sovereignty of Kosovo, only about practical questions. All other questions were ended on February 17,” he was quoted as saying. “Serb citizens in Kosovo are citizens of the republic of Kosovo and while the local and international government is respected, it is the legitimate right of every country to be interest in the position of its compatriots,” Thaci said. “Bogdanovic comes to Kosovo at an meaningful moment. He is a citizens of Kosovo and is welcome to pick up his Kosovo passport. In this case, I will be honored to present it to him,” he said. Still commenting on the Bogdanovic visit, Thaci said that Kosovo has "its own state government" and that as prime minister, "he cannot stop Belgrade from creating its own ministries, but that Belgrade knows that Kosovo is an independent and sovereign state”. Zannier, for his part, stated that he does not see himself as a mediator between Belgrade and Pristina. “I do not see myself as a mediator or a part of these talks. I will see what Belgrade's ideas and suggestion are, and I will inform the government in Pristina of them,” he said. "I will then take the reactions from Pristina to Belgrade,” Zannier explained.
