GSS, LDP to close merger deal

BELGRADE Civic Alliance of Serbia (GSS) senior council has decided to form a merger with the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). GSS president Natasa Micic said that the decision was unanimously passed. GSS, LDP to close merger deal “If we want to bring our ideas and policy into fruition, it’s better to operate through a stronger and energetic organization. The LDP has proven its strength at the January elections,” Micic said. “Following a crisis the GSS experienced in 2004 when almost half of its presidency and several local branches joined the Democratic Party (DS) ranks, it has grown into a parliamentary party within the coalition with the LDP,” the GSS leader said. She added that the Civic Alliance of Serbia could be proud of its 15-year long history and the European reputation. At the parliamentary elections held in January, coalition gathered around the LDP, including the GSS, the Social Democratic Union (SDU) and the League of Vojvodina Social Democrats (LSV) won 15 seats in the parliament.
