KOSOVSKA MITROVICA Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo Director Aleksandar Vulin says that top officials agree not to do anything that would be detrimental to Kosovo Serbs. After meeting with northern Kosovo Serbs and Pristina University representatives in Kosovska Mitrovica on Saturday, Vulin said that they expressed determination to look for a solution in negotiations that would take care of interests of people living in the southern province. Decisions “detrimental to Kosovo Serbs” will not be made He stressed that the Pristina University would remain in Kosovo and that “not a single class, let alone a faculty” would be removed. The Office for Kosovo director also met with representatives of the Trepca Mining and Metallurgical Complex and stressed that the complex belonged to the state of Serbia and that it could not be privatized. “On behalf of the Republic of Serbia I want to say that the state leadership’s position is that nothing will be done that could be detrimental to people who live in Kosovo and Metohija. The negotiations are not held because someone likes to do it but because people in Kosovo and Metohija have the right to decide on their own lives and nobody has so far offered or granted them that right,” Vulin pointed out. He said that Belgrade was fighting for the right of people living in Kosovo to decide on their lives, adding that the decision making process would not be possible without the university and local self-governments.
