The fifth and final technical round of SAA talks between EU and Serbia will continue on Monday in Brussels. The Serbian and EU delegations are expected to agree over the remaining issues in tomorrow’s meeting and remove all technical barriers for the Stabilization and Association Agreement to be signed soon. SAA talks continue on Monday Nonetheless, the key condition remains to be fulfilled – the government will have to locate and arrest Hague fugitive Ratko Mladic in order to conclude the SAA agreement. With the technical talks completed, Serbia will have a chance to sign the SAA by the end of the year and move closer to the European Union. The agreement is seen as a step forward in the integration process. Whether or not Belgrade would seize this chance depends on its ability to finalize the cooperation with the Hague Tribunal and deliver Mladic soon. The common consensus is that a failure to hand him over would slow down Serbia’s EU integration, and leave it to trail behind other countries in the Balkans. Officials in Belgrade claim that the hunt for the Hague fugitives is "at its peak". Nonetheless, there have recently been no results to substantiate that claims of positive developments in the search.
