Montenegro’s international recognition

According to the letter, Montenegro will respect all international laws, and try to become a member of all relevant international organisations in the shortest possible amount of time.

It is added that Montenegro will develop as a democratic nation founded on human freedoms, labour and business, social rights and security for all citizens, responsible behaviour, the protection of natural resources and a better democratic tradition.

The Montenegrin Parliament adopted a resolution on Saturday for the proclamation of independence, which formally proclaimed the restoration of Montenegrin statehood.

In the May 21 Montenegro independence referendum, 55.5 per cent of participating voters supported independence, a statistic confirmed last week by the Republic Referendum Commission and recognised by the EU.
