According to U.S. media, Bollettieri died after a long battle with a serious illness.

He also collaborated with Serbian tennis players such as Jelena Janković, Filip Krajinović and Miomir Kecmanović.

"Thank you for everything, legend, I will miss you," Krajinović wrote on social networks. Bollettieri had problems with a kidney infection, and his daughter recently revealed that the situation was difficult, writing that they were preparing for his departure.

Bollettieri is primarily known for his tennis academy in Florida, through which many great tennis aces have passed.

Bollettieri himself was not a particularly good tennis player, and only played in high school. He started his coaching career in Puerto Rico, and after ten years he opened his academy in Florida in 1978.

It attracted attention for its innovative concept because tennis players could live there and improve their game.

Things didn't work out so well, so he sold the academy to IMG, but stayed on as a coach.

He worked with young tennis players even at the age of 88, ignoring health problems for a long time, so he was on the tennis court until the very end.
