Stefanovic was referring to the violence that broke out in the stands during last week's football match in Belgrade between city rivals Partizan and Red Star.

According to the minister, "it seems at this point that there has been a significant involvement of the criminogenic factor."

Stefanovic said there was suspicion that the incident was "more than a showdown between supporters."

"I would not go into conspiracy theories, we do not have information that some intelligence factor was involved in this, we have arrived at information that indicates there was a mix of criminal factors, not only the domestic, but also from the region. In order to be sure what the goal was, we will not come out with it before we have all the information," Stefanovic said.

The minister also stated that it was not known at this time whether the role of "the criminogenic factor" was to organize, or to inspire the events.

"We have a lot of data, but we cannot monitor what foreign countries are doing. With our colleagues from the BIA and other countries' police forces we will try to get more information about the people who are now held here, and are linked to the violence at the derby. I expect that in a very short time we have enough information for the prosecution, so they can qualify these acts," Stefanovic said.
