After last week's completion of the adoption of the Rules of Procedure and Evidence, the Kosovo Specialist Chambers are ready to, as of today, start work.

The court, established in the Kosovo Assembly, has been created to deal exclusively with war crimes committed by the KLA ("Kosovo Liberation Army").

Pristina-based media are reporting on Wednesday, citing confirmations they received from the court's seat in The Hague, that first indictments are now expected to be raised.

With the coming into force of the Rules last week, there are no longer any legal obstacles to raising the indictments, the court said in a response published by the Pristina-based website IndeksOnline.

Serbia's state broadcaster RTS said that this was the last step to make the court completely operative and allow it to start working.
