Nephew of high-ranking Church dignitary gunned down

42-year-old businessman Marko Milicevic was shot and killed on Friday night in the town of Subotica, northern Serbia.

This is according to Belgrade-based newspaper Blic, which said Milicevic was the nephew of Serbian Orthodox Church Bishop Irinej Bulovic.

Unofficially, the victim was shot with five bullets as he was riding his motorcycle, close to his home.

The police said they could not provide more information.

The daily is reporting that Milicevic was nicknamed Hajcar "because he in the 1990s led the Hajcar group of young men who stopped at nothing, making many Subotica residents afraid of them."

According to the same report, Milicevic was the majority owner of the Suboticafilm company.


Police arrest 93 suspects in series of raids

The Interior Ministry (MUP) said on Monday that 93 people were arrested in a large-scale operation targeting perpetrators of economic crimes and corruption.
