Head of a Franciscan monastery in Bac was injured last night when unknown persons broke into that facility, the monastery has confirmed for Beta agency.

The Novi Sad Clinical Center explained that after receiving medical assistance at the Emergency Center J.S. will be placed at the Clinic for Neurosurgery, where his treatment will continue.The attack on the head of the Franciscan monastery in Bac has been condemned by Bac Municipal President Dragan Stasevic and the local board of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).
They appealed on authorities to urgently find and punish perpetrators.
Later on Friday, the police in Novi Sad said they arrested a man, 35-year-old Dj.P. from Bac, who is suspected of breaking into the monastery and stealing RSD 15,000 in cash along with church relics, and of injuring the monk.
The police also said that they found and confiscated the stolen objects during the arrest.
