The Higher Court in Belgrade has acquitted three former members of the former State Security (DB) accused of helping in an attempt to assassinate Vuk Draskovic.

Ex security agency members freed in Draskovic case
The defendants freed by the court today include former head of the Belgrade DB center Milan Radonjic, and Ratko Romic and Stevan Basta.The verdict was read early on Tuesday in a special courtroom of the Disctrict Prison in Belgrade, because Radonjic and Romic are in custody.
A separate trial for the two continues today before the Special Court in Belgrade where they stand accused in the case of the murder of journalist Slavko Curuvija.
The Prosecution can appeal against today's ruling. The court's original decision sentenced Radonjic to eight and Romic and Basta to seven years in prison each, but the Appellate Court overturned the verdict and ordered a retrial.
Previously, members of the former Special Operations Unit (JSO) were found guilty of attempting to murder Draskovic and received several-decades long jail sentences in a final ruling.
The DB officers were accused of providing logistics for them, that is, giving the JSO members photographs of the house Draskovic was staying in.
The indictment accused the three former DB officers of organizing the assassination attempt on June 15, 2000, on the orders of then Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic.
