Man killed in drive-by shooting in western town
One person was shot and killed late on Tuesday in the town of Sabac when unknown persons fired at him from a moving car, B92 has learned.
Source: B92, RTS, BlicThe police are currently looking for the attackers - according to information received by B92, two persons took part in the incident, and were using a Peugeot 206 with fake license plates when they shot the victim, Dejan Jakovljevic.
The shooting happened at 21:15 hours CET, while 15 minutes later, citizens reported to the police seeing a vehicle on fire on the Sabac-Sremska Mitrovica road.
The daily Blic writes that the victim was shot as many as 12 times. Jakovljevic, who had drugs-related criminal record and spent several years in jail, died of his injuries in the hospital.
In 2006, Jakovljevic was sentenced to five and a half years in prison for dealing drugs, and was during Operation Saber, launched in the wake of the assassination of Zoran Djindjic in 2003, detained in connection to a murder in Germany and later released for lack of evidence.
Jakovljevic lived in Sabac where he owned a restaurant.
