Nearly 5 kilos of heroin seized from Portuguese man

The Serbian border police have seized 4.9 kilograms of heroin at the Gradina crossing, on the border with Bulgaria.

The drugs were found in the luggage of a Portuguese citizen identified with his initials as R.S.G.A.

The 35-year-old was a passenger on a bus traveling between Sofia in Bulgaria and Lagos in Portugal.

Tanjug said it received confirmation of this information from Nenad Vučić, chief of the Regional Border Police Center in eastern Serbia, along the border with Bulgaria.

The Portuguese is currently held in 48-hour police detention on suspicion of involvement in drug smuggling.
