Murdered KM councilor buried in northern Kosovo

Member of the northern Kosovska Mitrovica municipal assembly Dimitrije Janićijević was buried on Friday at the local cemetery in Rudan, near Zvečan.

Janićijević was shot and killed in front of his house in Kosovska Mitrovica early on Thursday.

The funeral was attended by his family and friends, as well as numerous citizens of Mitrovica.

Among those who paid their respects to the tragically deceased Janićijević were Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo Slobodan Petrović, leader of the Citizens' Initiative SDP Oliver Ivanović, and many others.

Janićijević, 35, was a councilor of the Independent Liberal Party and candidate for the mayor of northern Mitrovica in local elections that were held in late 2013.

Due to the murder of Janićijević, Friday has been declared a day of mourning in Kosovska Mitrovica.

Serbia's border police on Wednesday seized four kilograms of cocaine and arrested one suspect, Tanjug said it learned from the Interior Ministry (MUP).
