The judge will however continue to head the trial for Delta Holding owner Miroslav Mišković, who is accused of corruption, as well as those concerning the murder of Croatian journalist Ivo Pukanić, and the JSO unit mutiny.

The judge was recently in the public spotlight after he decided to temporarily reinstate Mišković's passport, allowing him to briefly leave the country.

The newspaper reported that the decision to replace Vučinić as the department's president was made by all the judges of that department, while the "new yearly schedule" was announced by Acting President of the Higher Court Aleksandar Stepanović.

Previously, Vučinić turned to the High Judiciary Council and said he was under pressure over his decision related to Mišković.

According to Politika, he complained that Stepanović asked him to recall that decision, which Vučinić refused, saying it was legal and brought according to an appraisal of the case.

Vučinić confirmed this for the daily, but did not wish to comment on the reasons for being replaced.

"That is now within the jurisdiction of others, I am not authorized to reveal the details," he said.
