The drugs were discovered with a mobile scanner deployed at this border crossing between Serbia and Croatia.

The drugs were hidden in a Ford with Montenegrin license plates, driven by an Albanian citizen. The driver, and a passenger who was also in the car, both had Montenegrin residence permits.

The suspects, the drugs, and the car were all turned over to the police, the Customs said.

The statement noted that last weekend "an almost identical attempt to smuggle 20 kilograms of marijuana" was foiled at the same border crossing.

On that occasion, the car had Italian license plates and was driven by "a citizen with an ID card of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija, who had an Italian residence permit."
