Stanko Subotic, one of the key suspects in the 1990s cigarette smuggling case, has been arrested in Moscow. Serbian police, MUP, today confirmed the news, and added that Subotic is now in detention pending his extradition to Serbia. Suspected Tobacco Mafia mastermind arrested Subotic, a Serbian businessman, is charged with organizing a criminal group that in 1995 and 1996 illegally imported and sold cigarettes in the Serbian market. The indictment, based on which Serbia issued an arrest warrant for him, also states that Subotic was helped in his illegal activities by 14 associates, including the Milosevic-era customs chief Mihalj Kertes and Milosevic's son Marko. His attorney, Vlado Pavicevic, told B92 today that Subotic was going to appear at the May 19 hearing scheduled by the Special Organized Crime Court in Belgrade.

Subotić, a Serbian businessman, is charged with organizing a criminal group that in 1995 and 1996 illegally imported and sold cigarettes in the Serbian market.
