Court President to resign?

The daily states that the reasons for his decision are still unclear, but that many believe that the strong political and media pressure put on him as the president of the court council have become overwhelming.

According to procedures, Marko Kljajević would have to inform the High Personnel Council and the President of the District Court of his decision to resign from the case. However, both institutions have stated that they are unaware of Kljajević’s intentions to leave the case.

Supreme Court spokesperson Vesna Dabić told B92 that the decisions of the High Personnel Council and the work of the council itself are never open to the media.

“If the judge filed a demand for release, that demand is given directly to the Parliament and the High Personnel Council does not discuss it. However, since the meetings of the Council and its decisions are closed to the public, we would not be able to talk about the demand even if it did exist. An exception is when there are justifiable reasons, in the opinion of the High Personnel Council. The appeal can then be published as public information if the Presidents of the Supreme Court and High Personnel Council agree to do so.” Vesna Dabić said.
