Prijedor four plead not guilty

The indictment states that from April 30, 1992, until the end of the year, more than 7 000 civilians had been systematically imprisoned in the camps, where they were kept in inhumane conditions and subjected to physical, mental and sexual abuse, and that many were killed.

According to the indictment, Željko Mejakić commanded Omarska camp, Momčilo Gruban and Dušan Fuštar were guard commanders, while Duško Knežević, without any official duty, came by the camps often to abuse the prisoners.

The accused four have been transferred from the Hague to Sarajevo on May 9, in line with the ICTY’s strategy.
