" We also expect incomes in the public sector to be higher at the end of this and the beginning of next year," Vucic said, noting that Serbia has seen a continuous upward economic trend since October.

Speaking during a news conference in the Serbian National Assembly building, he said that the deficit in the first five months of 2016 was at RSD 11.3 billion, as opposed to the RSD 75.4 billion planned with the International Monetary Fund.

Excise duty collection rose by 25.3 percent compared to last year, with VAT collection rising by 10.3 percent, which is the most significant information as it indicates a significant growth of the Serbian economy, he said.

Customs duty collection rose by 8.8 percent, with income tax collection up by 5.6 percent, and other tax revenues rose by 8.5 percent, he said.

Speaking about macroeconomic trends, he said that a real growth of 3.5 percent was registered in the first quarter of this year.

The positive trends continued in April, with the real sector growing by 3.6 percent year-on-year and by 0.4 percent month-on-month, Vucic said, adding that industrial output rose by 8.4 percent year-on year.
