"No extension of deadline for privatization"

Sertic "informed Head of the IMF mission James Roaf about the activities which the Serbian Ministry of Economy is implementing with a view to finalizing the privatization process and underscored that there will be no extension of the privatization deadlines," his ministry said in a statement carried by Tanjug.

IMF representatives "voiced special interest in improvement of the business environment in Serbia and backed prompt adoption of the law on investments."

Sertic said that "the law may be adopted in the next few weeks and announced changes in a series of regulations that would improve the business climate."

In addition to the law on investments, "we are also preparing a set of laws which will improve the business environment, such as the law on negotiated financial restructuring, amendments to the Law on Agency for Licensing Bankruptcy Managers, new law on bankruptcy and the law on interim limitation of rights," the minister said.
